We’re so proud of what we’ve been able to share with you and the rest of the world this year, and we’re so excited to journey into 2020 together.
Sure, there’s the sheer quantity of articles we’ve published (once again, more than 400!), but we’re even more proud of the quality. I remember sitting in front of my computer one day not long ago thinking, “Damn, what an awesome series of articles we’ve just published on iRunFar!” There was Corrine Malcolm’s Running on Science: Fact or Fiction?, Thinking in Public for Runners by Sabrina Little, a fun profile of Katie Schide by Damian Hall, AJW’s What Makes a Good Comeback, another one of Justin Mock’s amazing This Week in Runnings, and Sarah Lavender Smith’s moving profile of Nick and Jade de la Rosa. Our 2020 editorial calendar is looking great, too, with some new columnists and ideas arriving soon to the ‘pages’ of iRunFar.
Of course, we also covered many of the world’s most competitive trail races and ultramarathons. Think the Trail World Championships, the Western States 100, UTMB, and The North Face 50 Mile Championships. We were there and elsewhere, too! Looking ahead, we’re already organizing logistics for a few of the biggest races and are taking a careful look at the early season race calendar to see which races rise to the top in 2020.
iRunFar is thriving because of our twice-annual fund drives and the generosity of supporters like you. In fact, in November we published our 5,000th article on iRunFar, a milestone I can hardly wrap my head around! We’re so excited to continue serving the trail running and ultrarunning community. We launch this end-of-year fund drive in gratitude for those of you who’ve already helped support our journey and for those of you who choose to join them–and us–now.
Ways You Can Help iRunFar
The best way to support iRunFar is to become a monthly iRunFar donor on Patreon or PayPal. Your monthly support offers us financial predictability, a great complement to the highly variable support we receive from brands and one-time donations. Your monthly support allows us to continually improve iRunFar while also allowing us to breathe easier when we have a quiet advertising month on the horizon. Put another way, it means we can operate iRunFar (and its editors’ lives) in a stable, sustainable manner. (Be aware that there are some perks associated with monthly Patreon donations that aren’t available by PayPal.)
Some folks prefer to support us with one-time donations via PayPal (no account needed) or check. That’s great, too! Such donations allow us to dream of bolstering some of our equipment as well as helping build a little cushion for the tough times.
Finally, you can also support us by purchasing iRunFar gear, such as iRunFar shirts, running socks, running hats, and winter jackets. Purchasing this gear helps fund iRunFar’s operations.
Happy trails (and holidays),
Bryon, Meghan, and the iRunFar Team

What you do for the ultrarunning community cannot be measured–education through articles written by experts in their field, detailed and unbiased live race coverage from across the globe, motivational and inspiring writing, and raising the profile of our sport in the running world more generally. To donate a small amount through Patreon each month for this is excellent value for money. – Ellie G.
Your coverage of major races is so comprehensive that when you compare it to other race coverage outlets, the difference in quality is pretty profound–iRunFar is definitely the gold standard as far as race coverage is concerned. Thanks for doing what you do–we’re very, very lucky that you exist. – Ric M.
I would not be the runner I am today without the impetus of iRunFar; it has taken me from newbie to knowledgeable, from hesitant to enthusiastic. – Anon.
Apart from the obvious fact that you cover extremely well the trail/ultra scene, it’s the way you do it that marks you out from the rest. The personalized way that the whole operation seems to be run gives it a feel which I have never encountered elsewhere. It’s warm, curious, interesting, opinionated, but also fair and considerate in a really unique way. And you are clearly not doing it to make a quick buck. And I think that high quality work such as yours which is done in that way should be and needs to be supported. I really admire what you do. – Tristram L.
iRunFar provides five-star journalism to the sport we love, no holds barred. The reporting is intimate and real, bridging unique personal experiences with descriptive race coverage to present a trusted, valued source of information for the ultrarunning community. -Michelle F.
iRunFar is the best platform about ultrarunning: the quality and the diversity of the content are amazing. But above all the good spirit, the constructive discussion and the sense of community are unique and useful. – Antoine L.
…because iRunFar is unique package of love, coverage, and story in one place! – John C.
