Black Diamond Equipment logoLast July at Hardrock checkin, a pair of gloves instantly caught my eye. “Those gloves are exactly iRunFar color,” I thought to myself as I picked up a pair. Closer inspection revealed a pair of Black Diamond fleece gloves (specifically Polartec Power Grid) that looked like the perfect weight for mildly-cold-to-cold runs. I wanted a pair, but no luck as I wasn’t in the race. Well, I did some digging, got enough pairs for me and about 100 iRunFar fans, and had the iRunFar logo sublimated on to each glove. How about that?!

I’ve worn these gloves a bunch since receiving a sample pair. So far, they’ve been great on runs as well as walking around outside down to 20F (-6C), which is the coldest I’ve encountered so far this mild autumn. I’d imagine they’ll take me at least another 20F/10C degrees colder while running… but I tend to run warm, and they’re definitely running-weight gloves rather than Arctic-expedition warmth.

The gloves and their sizing are unisex. See sizing details below.

Note: The black patches on the thumb and forefinger are nominally for touch-screen compatibility; however, I have found them NOT to work and disavow that feature here.

Here’s what Black Diamond writes of their MidWeight GridTech Gloves:

Technical stretch-fleece liners designed to be worn under a shell or as a super lightweight stand-alone, the MidWeight GridTech gloves are highly compressible with a grid fleece interior and a high warmth-to-weight ratio.

Description
Stretchy liners that provide efficient, highly breathble insulation under a shell glove or as a lightweight stand-alone, the Black Diamond MidWeight GridTech gloves feature a warm yet lightweight grid fleece that traps warmth in gridded channels without inhibiting breathability. These midweight, quick-drying liners also feature suede leather palm patches for secure grip.

  • 129 g Polartec® Power Grid fabric with grid fleece backing
  • Silicone printed palm for added grip
