The iRunFar Store ends its journey.

iRunFar StoreAll journeys have a start and a finish. Nearly five years ago, a friend offered to provide the fledgling iRunFar Store with a few pairs of Salomon Exo Calves as an experiment for both the then iRunFar-gear-only store and for a product, Salomon Exo apparel, not available in the U.S. at the time. Both experiments were a huge success and the iRunFar Store rolled on, adding new products and brands that served our community’s niche needs, but were, perhaps, not widely available. With the rise in prominence of trail running, big box online retailers have brought in nearly all the items we’ve previously provided you, the iRunFar reader. As such, there is no longer a need for us to make these products available. Our reviews, gear roundups, and Outdoor Retailer show stories are effective means of letting you know what products catch our eyes and where those products might work best. Indeed, I personally wish to direct more energy, time, and resources toward providing you with these articles and the rest of iRunFar’s coverage of trail running and ultramarathons.

With all that in mind, we’re shutting down the iRunFar Store. Starting immediately, everything in the iRunFar Store is 20% off. Keep in mind, we can send much of our merchandise overseas. I’m publishing this article on iRunFar prior to any promotion of the sale on Twitter or Facebook or even advertisements on iRunFar. I want those who read iRunFar regularly, either via stopping by the website, subscribing to our RSS feed, or receiving daily email updates containing our articles (and only articles… this isn’t a “newsletter” or marketing signup) to have first crack at the great deals. Indeed, we wouldn’t be able to place many of these items on sale if we weren’t shutting down the store.

Please know that our shutting down of the iRunFar Store is completely independent of iRunFar’s media operations. We’ve got our heads down, heart rates up, and barreling forward at breakneck pace in creating great stories. We’re putting together a race-coverage schedule that’s more exhausting than any ultramarathon we’ve ever run.* Basically, it’s full steam ahead at iRunFar.com, just with one less distraction. So, if you’re a fan of iRunFar’s work, want to support us, AND want to get something great in return, consider picking something up in the iRunFar Store’s going out of business sale going on right now!

Okay, Meghan’s run at last year’s Tor des Géants may give us a run for our money!
